Two problems live in the front of the cabin, and they are usually treated as one. The first is the gap: a slot between the seat and the center console that is exactly the right width to swallow a phone and exactly the wrong shape to get it back out of. The second is that the console and glove box themselves are usually deep, undivided tubs where small things go to be lost.
They need different products. A gap filler blocks or catches. A console divider or a glove box tray creates layers. Buying the first when your problem is the second is the most common mistake in this category, and it is why so many people end up with a leather pocket full of receipts and an open gap next to it.
Measure the gap. This is the whole game.
Take a ruler, slide the driver's seat to where you actually drive, and measure across the gap at its widest point — usually somewhere in the middle of the seat travel. Write the number down. Then read the listing you are about to buy from.

How they stay put, and why most of them do not
Retention here is one of three things. Friction — the product wedges and stays until the seat moves. A seat belt slot — the product threads onto the belt anchor, which is by far the most secure of the three. Or an adhesive foam pad, which is the least reliable in a hot cabin.
If you adjust your seat often, friction retention will disappoint you. Look for something that anchors rather than wedges.

The console and glove box are a different job
Once the gap is closed, the actual bottleneck in a tidy front cabin is usually the console bin — a deep tub with nothing in it but the bottom. The fix is a shelf or a divider, and for that the vehicle-specific molded inserts genuinely beat any universal caddy: they match the tub exactly, so nothing rattles and nothing slides.
The cost is equally clear. Sell the car and the part is worthless to you. Price them as consumables attached to the vehicle rather than accessories you keep.
