Authorship
Everything on this site is written by Scooter M., an enthusiast who reads the manuals, compiles the published specifications and does the arithmetic. There is no expert panel, no team of testers and no advisory board, and no page here will imply there is.
Where a page carries a byline, that byline names a person and the structured data on the page names the same person. We do not put a human name on a page and an anonymous organization in the markup.
Sourcing
- Every factual claim carries a source, cited near the claim and listed at the foot of the page.
- Product specifications come from the manufacturer's or retailer's own published listing, with the date it was retrieved.
- Legal and cost claims name the body or publication that published them and the date we checked, and say plainly when a source is secondary or commercially motivated.
- Prices and any customer rating come from the live data layer only. Never typed, never remembered.
- Where we could not source a figure, the page says so. A claim without a source does not ship, and “we could not find a published figure for this” is a sentence that appears throughout this site on purpose.
- We do not cite a competitor's review as evidence for a factual claim. Primary sources only — manufacturers, standards bodies, statutes and agencies.
What we refuse to claim
- That we tested, used, owned or handled a product. We have not.
- A credential nobody here holds. No certifications, no professional titles, no medically or expert reviewed.
- Tenure. Not long-time, not veteran, not years of experience. The framing is interest, because that is what is true.
- A testimonial, customer quote, star rating or review count that did not come from real data. This brand has no customers, so there are no testimonials anywhere on this site — a clean page beats a fabricated one.
- A specification we could not source, in any field, for any reason.
No sponsored content, ever
No brand pays for placement, ranking, inclusion or a favorable mention on this site, and none ever will while this policy stands. We accept no free products and no sponsored posts.
We earn through the Amazon Associates program, which is described in full on the disclosure page. That affects what happens after you click a link; it does not affect what appears before you do.
Corrections
Corrections are the mail we answer first. Send them to info@cabincommand.com or through the contact form.
- A factual error is fixed as soon as it is confirmed, and the page's reviewed date is updated.
- A substantive correction — one that changes a recommendation, a specification or a legal statement — is noted on the page rather than silently patched.
- A typographical or formatting fix is not annotated.
- If we recorded a figure as not published and it turns out the maker does publish it, that is a correction and we want it. Those improve the site more than anything else you could send us.
Update cadence
Published so it is checkable, and because staleness is the most common weakness in this category — several of the pages that outrank us were last touched years ago.
- Prices: refreshed daily by an automated job, and rendered only when the data is fresh.
- Roundups, comparisons and fitment tables: reviewed every 90 days. Products still sold, specifications unchanged, stated downsides still true.
- Objection and how-to guides: every 180 days.
- Legal and cost guides: every 180 days, and immediately on any known change.
- Trust pages including this one: every 180 days, checking that the honesty statements are still literally true.
What “last reviewed” means
It is the date a person last went through that page and checked it. It is never the build timestamp. This site redeploys daily for the price refresh, so a build-stamped date would claim every page was re-read every day, which would be false and would train search engines to ignore the signal entirely. The same rule governs the dates in our sitemap.
Independence
Cabin Command is published by Slate Mill Group and has no relationship with any brand it writes about beyond the affiliate program disclosed. No brand has editorial input, advance review, or any ability to have a criticism removed.
How to check any of this
Every claim on this site is traceable. Follow the citations, check the arithmetic — the inputs are printed on the page for exactly that reason — and read the method, which sets out step by step how a pick is made. If any of it does not hold up, that is a correction and we want to hear it.
