Search this category and you get a wall of near-identical black leather objects with near-identical descriptions. They are not the same product. There are three shapes and they solve genuinely different problems, and most of the disappointment in this category comes from buying one shape while wanting another.
The three shapes
The wedge
A solid or foam-filled bolster that spans the gap and seals it. It stores nothing. Its single job is that nothing falls through, and it does that job better than either of the others because there is no opening to fall into. If your only complaint is losing things down the side, this is the correct answer and the cheapest one.
The catcher
A shallow, tapered pocket that sits in the gap. It blocks and it holds a phone, cards or coins. It is the most-sold shape and the compromise position. Its weakness is width: the taper means the bottom is narrower than a large phone in a case, and in a wide gap it sags rather than spans.
The console side box
A rigid-walled compartment that drops in beside the console. It is mostly a storage product that happens to occupy the gap. It holds the most and blocks the least reliably, because it is sized to the console shoulder rather than to your specific gap — which is why the one product in this category that publishes a fitment range is a box.
| Wedge | Catcher | Console side box | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blocks the gap completely | Yes | Mostly | Partly |
| Holds a large phone | No | Rarely | Usually |
| Works in a wide gap | Yes | No — sags | Depends on the stated range |
| Survives seat adjustment | Usually | Often not | Usually |
| Publishes a fitment range | No | No | One product does |
| Best for | Losing things | Both, in a narrow gap | Wanting storage |

#1 · Knowing before you buy whether it fits
Leather Seat Gap Filler Organizer, fits 0.2"–1.2" gaps
Generic (premium leather console box)
The only gap filler here that publishes the gap width it is designed for — 0.2" to 1.2". Everything else in the category says "universal", which is not a measurement.
Go and measure your gap now, with a ruler, at the widest point. If it is over 1.2" this product will sag into it, and no amount of "universal" in a listing changes that.
A single-pack is a deliberate choice: the driver's side gap is the one that swallows things. The passenger side rarely earns a second unit.
Leather here means the outer skin. The structure that holds the shape is the seam and the internal panel, and no maker in this category publishes what that is.
What works
- Publishes an actual fitment range, which almost nothing else here does
- Box form rather than a flat wedge, so it stores as well as blocks
- Single unit — you buy one for the side that needs it
What does not
- Useless if your gap is wider than 1.2"
- No published external dimensions for the box itself
- One unit means the passenger gap stays open
Skip this if
Skip it if you have measured a gap wider than 1.2". Buy a wedge-type filler that spans, not a box that drops in.

#2 · Covering both sides in one purchase
Car Seat Gap Filler & Pocket Organizer, PU Leather, 2-Pack
Generic (PU leather caddy)
A pair of PU leather side caddies that sit between seat and console — the standard shape of this category, bought two at a time so both gaps close.
Two units is the right default if your car has a console gap on both sides, which most do — the passenger one collects everything a passenger drops.
No published gap range. That is the norm here and it is why our fitment guide exists: measure first, then buy.
What works
- Two units covers both front gaps
- Pocket form, so it stores things rather than only blocking
- Long-established listing in the category
What does not
- No published fitment range or dimensions
- PU leather scuffs where the seat rubs it
- Two thin units are easier to dislodge than one braced box
Skip this if
Skip it if only the driver's gap is a problem. You are buying a spare you will leave in a drawer.

#3 · One more cup holder, from the gap you already have
Supin Car Seat Gap Filler with Cup Holder, 2-Piece
Supin
The overlap product between two of our categories: a gap filler that also adds a cup position. If your cup holders are full and your gap is open, this closes both problems.
The cup position on these is narrow. It is a coffee-cup or can slot, not somewhere a 40 oz tumbler is going.
The maker does not publish the cup diameter, which is exactly the number you need. If you are trying to house a big bottle, buy a proper cup holder expander instead — we cover the sizes that actually fit.
What works
- Closes the gap and adds a cup position in one part
- Two pieces
- Dedicated small compartments for phone, cards and coins
What does not
- Cup diameter is not published
- The cup position is small
- PU leather over an unstated internal structure
Skip this if
Skip it if the cup you want to park is a Yeti or a Stanley. It will not fit and a cup holder expander is the right tool.

How to decide in one question
What annoyed you enough to search for this? If the answer is a phone that fell into the gap, buy a wedge or a catcher. If the answer is that there is nowhere to put your cards, buy a box and treat the blocking as a bonus. People who want both and buy one product usually end up mildly unhappy with whichever half they compromised.
Brand-name versions and what they change
Several well-known names sell wedge-type fillers, and readers ask how they compare. We do not have their published specifications in front of us and are not going to characterize a product from memory. What we can say is that the shape logic on this page applies regardless of brand: a wedge blocks and stores nothing, whoever makes it.
How we picked these
One product per shape, so the comparison maps onto something you can buy. Specifications from each maker's own listing, cited on the card, unpublished fields marked unpublished. We have not handled any of them.
Sources
Everything on this page traces back to one of these. Where a figure could not be sourced, the page says so rather than filling the gap.
