The sun visor is a flat panel at eye level that almost everybody uses for nothing. It is the right height and the right position for two specific things — sunglasses, and the documents you want when a police officer is at your window — and a small organizer puts both within reach without a glance downward.
The mistake is buying a big one.
Why small wins here
- A loaded visor hangs lower. Every pocket you fill drops the visor's bottom edge further into your field of view when it is down.
- It has to swing. A visor rotates to the side window on most cars, and a thick organizer fouls the A-pillar on the way.
- Most cars have a vanity mirror on one visor. A full-width organizer covers it entirely.
- The visor still has a job. It blocks the sun, and a heavy organizer makes people stop using it for that.

Five card slots is the figure to shop on if what you carry is a stack of cards and permits. A single big pouch holds the same paper and gives it back in a handful.
The published 12.2" × 6.1" is worth checking against your own visor, because visors vary more than you would expect between a sedan and a truck — and an organizer wider than the visor fouls the mirror when you swing it across.
The liner board is what stops a loaded organizer sagging into a droop you see over the top of the windshield. A limp fabric pouch does exactly that.

A published size is rare in this category and it is the figure that decides fit. At 12.2 by 6.3 inches this is exactly as long as the Kartisen organizer on this page and two tenths of an inch deeper, so the two cover effectively the same visor footprint.
Three pen loops in different diameters sounds like filler and is not. A pen, a tire gauge and a key fob are different widths, and one loop sized for a biro holds exactly one of them.
The cardboard backing is what keeps a loaded pouch flat rather than bowing away from the visor, and it is the part that fails first in cheap versions of this product.

Leather or PU
The visor lives in direct sunlight, which is the worst environment for synthetic leather — PU stiffens and cracks over a few summers where real leather does not. If you park outside in a hot climate, that is the one place in this category worth spending more.
