At a traffic stop your hands are up near the wheel and visible, which is where they should stay. Reaching across the cabin to the glove box is both slower and worse. Five card slots is the figure to shop on if what you carry is a stack of cards and permits. A single big pouch holds the same paper and gives it back in a handful.
The published 12.2" × 6.1" is worth checking against your own visor, because visors vary more than you would expect between a sedan and a truck — and an organizer wider than the visor fouls the mirror when you swing it across.
The liner board is what stops a loaded organizer sagging into a droop you see over the top of the windshield. A limp fabric pouch does exactly that.

A glove box is a horizontal surface with a lid. Adding a second layer roughly doubles what it holds without changing anything else about the truck.
The soft rubber liner is the difference between a tray that silences the compartment and one that adds a new rattle.
The console half does the same trick in the armrest box, and the hole through the middle is there so a charging cable can run out of a closed lid rather than being trapped by it.

Zipped or visible
A zipped compartment keeps paper flat and stops anything falling out when the visor swings. Transparent windows let a permit or license be read without being removed, which matters at gated parking and at checkpoints. One organizer here has six windows and another has a zip; they are answers to different questions.
The glove box, for everything else
Owner's manual, service records, spare fuses, the tire pressure card. Those belong in the glove box, and they belong on the lower of two layers — which is the argument for a glove box tray, covered properly on our glove box page.
