Where to put it, which decides whether it gets used
A bin the driver can reach and the passengers cannot does not collect the passengers' rubbish. If children are the main source, it needs to hang from a front seat back where a strapped-in child can reach it. If it is for the driver, the transmission tunnel or the passenger footwell works.
Whichever you choose, it needs to be held down. A loose bin becomes a rolling object under braking and empties itself. Straps, magnetic snaps and a floor-mat clip are the three retention methods on this page, and the mat clip is the most useful in a footwell with nothing to hang from.
