The second heat problem, which is the phone
A vent mount solves both problems at once in summer, and this is the underrated reason to pick one. A phone running navigation in direct sun throttles — it slows the screen, dims it, and eventually stops charging to shed heat. Mounted in front of a vent with the air conditioning on, it sits in a stream of cool air instead.
The same choice is exactly wrong in winter, when a vent mount blows hot air at a phone that is already in the sun. If you live somewhere with real seasons, that is an argument for a mount you can move, not one that is glued down.
